  • MOV
  • AVI

  • JPG / JPEG
  • PNG
  • GIF (animated supported)
  • WebP
Recommended specs: 1920x1080 (Full HD) or 3840x2160 (4K) resolution, H.264 codec for videos.

Creating playlists is simple:
  1. First, upload your media in Content → Media Library
  2. Go to Content → Playlists
  3. Click Create Playlist
  4. Give your playlist a name
  5. Click Add Media to select items from your library
  6. Set the duration for each image (videos play full length)
  7. Drag items to reorder them
  8. Save your playlist
Your playlist is now ready to assign to devices!

  • Videos: Up to 2GB per file
  • Images: Up to 50MB per file
Storage limits by plan:
  • Starter: 5GB total storage
  • Professional: 20GB total storage
  • Enterprise: 100GB total storage
You can check your storage usage in the dashboard. If you need more storage, consider upgrading your plan.

Content updates are nearly instant! Here's the typical timeline:
  • Playlist assignment: 5-30 seconds
  • New media in existing playlist: Updates on next playlist loop
  • Schedule changes: Take effect at next scheduled time
Devices check for updates regularly. For immediate updates, you can use the Refresh button in the Devices page to push changes instantly.

Scheduling

Schedules let you automate what plays and when:
  • Day-based: Different content for different days of the week
  • Time-based: Morning content, afternoon content, evening content
  • Date-based: Special content for holidays or events
For example, a restaurant could show:
  • Breakfast menu: 6am - 11am
  • Lunch specials: 11am - 3pm
  • Dinner menu: 3pm - 10pm
  • Closed message: 10pm - 6am

Absolutely! Each device can have its own schedule or share schedules with other devices.

Example setup for a retail store:
  • Window Display: Promotional content schedule
  • Checkout Area: Quick tips and upsell schedule
  • Break Room: Employee announcements schedule
Create as many schedules as you need and assign them to the appropriate devices.

If there's no active schedule for a time period, the device will:
  1. Play the default playlist assigned to the device
  2. If no default playlist, show the BinaryTV logo/screensaver
Pro tip: Always set a default playlist on your devices as a fallback. This ensures your screens are never blank!

Technical

Minimum requirements:
  • Initial download: 5+ Mbps recommended for smooth content sync
  • Ongoing playback: Content is cached locally, so minimal bandwidth needed
  • For 4K content: 25+ Mbps for initial download
Important: Once content is downloaded to the device, it plays from local storage. Your screens will continue working even if internet connection is temporarily lost!

Yes! BinaryTV caches content locally on each device:
  • Content is downloaded when first assigned

This ensures your displays keep running smoothly even during network outages.
